Etiopía inauguró la Gran Presa del Renacimiento Etíope, la mayor de África. Se levanta sobre el Nilo Azul y su construcción ha llevado 14 años.
La presa puede producir enormes cantidades de electricidad, suficiente para millones de personas en Etiopía y los países vecinos. Muchas familias sin electricidad esperan que su vida mejore. Personas de toda Etiopía aportaron dinero mediante donaciones y bonos, y muchos ven la presa como un proyecto nacional.
Pero Egipto y Sudán están preocupados. Dicen que la presa podría cortarles el agua del Nilo, sobre todo en épocas de sequía. Las conversaciones entre los tres países no llegaron a un acuerdo, por lo que la tensión continúa. Etiopía afirma que la presa no perjudicará a los demás y cree que ayudará al país a fortalecerse.
