Muchas embarcaciones pequeñas se preparan para pescar cerca de Nouadhibou, en Mauritania.

Pescadores de distintos países necesitan este trabajo para vivir. Peces como la sardina dan comida y trabajo a muchas personas. Pero ahora es más difícil pescar y los pescadores deben adentrarse mucho en el mar. Los científicos dicen que algunos peces están en peligro porque la gente pesca demasiados.

Los grandes barcos y las fábricas de harina de pescado también capturan muchos peces. Algunas fábricas intentan proteger a los peces, pero otras no. A veces, no hay peces durante días. La gente quiere mejores normas para la pesca, que ayudarían a los peces a permanecer en el mar.

Mauritania y la Unión Europea colaboran. La UE da dinero para construir mejores mercados y puertos de pescado. Esto ayuda a la gente a vender pescado y a protegerlo para el futuro.
