Migración y elecciones a la UE – nivel 2

La UE celebrará elecciones al Parlamento Europeo del 6 al 9 de junio.

Los votantes elegirán a 720 legisladores. Cada país obtiene un número diferente de escaños en función de su población. Alemania es el que más tiene, con 96 escaños. Cada país de la UE debe tener al menos seis representantes. Estos legisladores ayudarán a elegir al presidente de la Comisión Europea. Un gran problema es la migración. Muchos emigrantes mueren intentando llegar a la UE. La UE aprobó una nueva ley para ayudar a hacer frente a la migración. La ley permite a los países enviar solicitantes de asilo a otros estados de la UE y devolverlos a sus países.

Esta ley preocupa a algunos grupos de defensa de los derechos humanos. La migración es un tema importante en países como Grecia e Italia. Un estudio demostró que no es la mayor preocupación para la mayoría de los votantes, sino que es más importante en los países a los que llegan emigrantes, por ejemplo, Grecia o Italia.
