Lluvias sin precedentes provocaron inundaciones repentinas. En Ingham, un pueblo de 5.000 habitantes, algunos vieron un cocodrilo en un desagüe. La ciudad de la Gran Barrera de Coral se enfrentó al triple de la precipitación media en 40 horas, lo que provocó la evacuación de miles de personas y la pérdida de electricidad. Los meteorólogos prevén más lluvias y emiten avisos de inundación. Los equipos de rescate están preparados para ayudar en cualquier lugar donde empiecen los problemas.
