María vive en un pequeño pueblo de Guatemala. Es madre de seis hijos. Le cuesta encontrar comida suficiente para ellos. Sus vecinos a veces le dan comida.
Sus hijos no crecen como deberían porque no tienen suficiente comida. En Guatemala, mucha gente pasa hambre. Algunos niños están muy enfermos por ello. Cada vez mueren más niños. Algunas familias incluso quieren ir a Estados Unidos para vivir mejor.
El tiempo también está cambiando. Llueve menos. Cada vez es más difícil cultivar. Muchos jóvenes de la aldea de María quieren marcharse y buscar comida en otra parte.
