Un jurado federal de Nueva York ha dictaminado que Live Nation y su filial Ticketmaster han estado operando como un monopolio ilegal.
El tribunal concluyó que el gigante del entretenimiento sofocó la competencia, lo que provocó precios elevados de las entradas y un servicio deficiente para los aficionados.
Aunque el Departamento de Justicia de EE. UU. llegó a un acuerdo, una coalición de 27 estados continuó con la demanda y solicitó la desintegración estructural de la empresa. Los expertos sostienen que separar Ticketmaster de Live Nation es necesario para devolver la equidad al sector. Además, hay voces que piden limitar el control de Live Nation sobre la gestión de artistas y las salas de conciertos.
Aunque Live Nation tiene previsto recurrir, muchos creen que este veredicto marca el principio del fin de su dominio absoluto del mercado del entretenimiento en directo.
