Los Houthis de Yemen han difundido imágenes en las que se ve a hombres armados que descienden de un helicóptero y se apoderan de un carguero en el Mar Rojo.
Declararon que todos los buques relacionados con Israel se considerarían objetivos legítimos. El grupo, aliado con Teherán, pretende continuar las operaciones militares contra Israel hasta que cese la agresión contra Gaza. Israel contraatacó afirmando que el barco era de propiedad británica y estaba operado por japoneses, y denunció el incidente como un acto de terrorismo iraní.
Los rebeldes Houthi amenazaron recientemente a buques israelíes por el conflicto con Hamás. Japón confirmó la captura del Galaxy Leader, operado por Nippon Yusen, y solicitó ayuda para su liberación a las autoridades saudíes, omaníes e iraníes. El grupo propietario del buque, Ray Car Carriers, está vinculado a un empresario israelí, lo que ha dado lugar a acusaciones de terrorismo iraní.
