La presidenta india Droupadi Murmu se autodenominó “presidenta de Bharat” en una cena de la cumbre del G20.
Esto sorprendió a la gente y les hizo preguntarse si el gobierno quería cambiar el nombre de India. India tiene dos nombres: India y Bharat. Al gobierno le gusta el hindi y está cambiando algunos nombres antiguos por otros nuevos. Tanto India como Bharat son nombres muy antiguos. Algunas personas creen que fueron los británicos quienes dieron nombre a India, pero los historiadores dicen que estos nombres son incluso más antiguos que eso.
Para cambiar el nombre de India a sólo Bharat, debe haber un cambio en la constitución. Es posible que el parlamento lo debata en la próxima gran reunión.
