Web3 es una nueva Internet descentralizada. En lugar de unas pocas empresas tecnológicas que dirijan Internet, utilizará la tecnología blockchain. Las cadenas de bloques utilizan una red de muchos ordenadores para controlar diferentes cosas.

A la gente le gusta Web3 y está gastando dinero para crear aplicaciones especiales llamadas ‘dapps‘ o aplicaciones descentralizadas. Las aplicaciones se ejecutan en cadenas de bloques en lugar de en grandes ordenadores de una gran empresa. Así no se pueden cerrar, y los usuarios de las ‘dapp‘ son dueños de sus datos.

Algunas personas dicen que la Web3 no es muy importante, que la gente seguirá necesitando empresas y sus grandes ordenadores para controlar los programas, y que no hay normas ni leyes que puedan crear problemas. Además, las blockchains necesitan mucha energía, lo que puede perjudicar al medio ambiente.
