Madrid experimentó las lluvias más intensas desde 1972, lo que provocó graves inundaciones en el metro.
Dos personas murieron y otras dos desaparecieron en España. Los vídeos difundidos en las redes sociales mostraban cómo el agua entraba en los vagones de metro en movimiento y conmocionaba a los pasajeros. En Aldea del Fresno, los bomberos rescataron a un niño de 10 años que había desaparecido, mientras que otro hombre desapareció en Villamanta después de que el agua y el barro lo arrastraran.
Se derrumbaron varios puentes y se cerraron carreteras, metros y trenes debido a las inundaciones. El alcalde de Madrid pidió a la gente que se quedara en casa. La agencia meteorológica advirtió de tiempo extremo en varias regiones. Los expertos pronosticaron hasta 120 litros de lluvia por metro cuadrado.
