Los pandas son conocidos por su baja libido, y las hembras sólo son capaces de concebir durante dos o tres días al año, lo que dificulta la reproducción.
Sin embargo, dos pandas llamados Yang Yang y Long Hui del zoo de Viena parecen haberse enamorado el uno del otro y se han apareado varias veces, un hecho poco frecuente en cautividad para una de las especies más amenazadas del mundo.
La gestación del panda dura hasta 163 días, por lo que los cuidadores esperarán ahora a ver si el apareamiento tuvo éxito.
