Se está produciendo una gran sequía en el sur de África. Millones de personas no tienen alimentos.
Cinco países -Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia y Zimbabue- tienen problemas. La ausencia de lluvias significa que los cultivos y los animales se están muriendo. Angola y Mozambique también tienen problemas.
El Programa Mundial de Alimentos de la ONU está distribuyendo alimentos y dinero en efectivo a la población. Pero necesita mucho más dinero. Según la ONU, 27 millones de personas pasan hambre. 21 millones de niños no reciben alimentos suficientes. La sequía continuará hasta marzo o abril de 2025. Entonces la gente tendrá nuevas cosechas. El Niño hace que algunos lugares sean demasiado secos. No es posible detenerlo. La ONU necesita 369 millones de dólares para ayudar a la población de Sudáfrica.
