Las playas del Caribe, México y Florida se están llenando de algas, lo que supone un problema para los veraneantes.
Es difícil saber a qué playas afectarán más las algas y cómo repercutirá esto en el turismo. Algunas playas se enfrentan mejor que otras a las algas. Muchos hoteles utilizan barreras para evitar que las algas lleguen a la orilla, pero algunas siguen llegando.
Un informe reciente del Laboratorio de Oceanografía Óptica de la Universidad del Sur de Florida aclara que no se trata de una mancha masiva de algas de 8.000 km, sino de una cantidad de terrones mayor de lo habitual, procedentes del Gran Cinturón Atlántico de Sargazos del océano Atlántico.
