El príncipe heredero saudí dijo que si Irán fabrica un arma nuclear, Arabia Saudí también querrá una.
Esto suscitó preocupación acerca de un acuerdo entre Estados Unidos y Arabia Saudí. A algunos demócratas del Senado estadounidense les preocupa porque no confían en Arabia Saudí. EEUU está intentando que Arabia Saudí e Israel sean amigos, pero no es fácil. Hay problemas con los palestinos, y conseguir que el Congreso esté de acuerdo es difícil. Además, el historial de Arabia Saudí en materia de derechos humanos es malo.
El mayor problema se refiere a la cooperación nuclear. El gobierno estadounidense podría cambiar las normas para ayudar a Arabia Saudí, pero a muchas personas del Congreso no les gustará. No quieren que Arabia Saudí tenga armas nucleares.
