Los robles más antiguos de Europa – nivel 3

La gente descubrió en el Palacio de Blenheim, situado a las afueras de Oxford y hogar ancestral de Sir Winston Churchill, que hay otro pedazo de historia. En sus terrenos hay un grupo único de robles.
Con unos 920 años de edad, los robles centenarios se remontan a los normandos, habiendo sobrevivido a dos guerras mundiales, una guerra civil y la Edad Media. Los árboles eran bebés en el siglo XII, cuando Enrique I, hijo de Guillermo el Conquistador, cazaba allí. Ahora, los árboles tienen unos 9 metros de diámetro.
El jefe de la finca dijo que no es sólo la edad de los robles, sino también su cantidad en una sola zona y en un solo tipo de suelo lo que es significativo en Gran Bretaña, así como en Europa y en todo el mundo.
