El gobierno estadounidense está preparando una nueva ley. Esta ley implica que las centrales eléctricas de gas deben utilizar una tecnología especial. Esta tecnología captura las emisiones de carbono.
El presidente Joe Biden quiere reducir las emisiones de dióxido de carbono en 12 años. Las autoridades anunciarán las normas para las centrales eléctricas esta semana. Las centrales eléctricas de gas representan alrededor del 25% de las emisiones de carbono de EEUU. Las centrales eléctricas utilizarán estas tecnologías. Algunas empresas pueden construir nuevas centrales eléctricas. Pero les resultará difícil competir con las centrales solares o eólicas.
Las nuevas normas funcionarán en lugar de las normas de las administraciones Obama y Trump.
