Incendio en el aeropuerto de Luton – nivel 3

Todos los vuelos del aeropuerto de Luton han sido suspendidos hasta la tarde debido a un incendio de grandes proporciones que afectó a un aparcamiento de la terminal el martes por la noche.
El incendio provocó importantes daños estructurales en el aparcamiento de varias plantas, y el Servicio de Incendios y Rescate de Bedfordshire cree que fue un incendio accidental que se inició en un vehículo. Afortunadamente, no se han registrado heridos graves, aunque algunos bomberos y miembros del personal del aeropuerto fueron atendidos por inhalación de humo. El aeropuerto está centrado en la seguridad de los pasajeros y del personal y pretende reanudar sus operaciones lo antes posible.
El aparcamiento, con capacidad para 1.900 vehículos, puede haber sufrido daños importantes. No había aspersores en el aparcamiento, y se esperan recomendaciones para su instalación en futuras remodelaciones. Numerosos pasajeros se han visto afectados por el incidente, lo que ha provocado alteraciones en los planes de viaje.
