Leyes sobre vitela – nivel 3

Tradicionalmente, las leyes británicas se escriben en vitela, que es piel de animal. Ahora la Cámara de los Lores está dividida sobre si mantener esta tradición o buscar una opción más barata.
Un diputado conservador afirmó que las leyes deben tener un carácter permanente, ya que son importantes y poderosas, y por tanto deben registrarse de forma que duren el mayor tiempo posible.
Aunque 80.000 libras al año por el pergamino puede parecer mucho dinero, el gerente de la empresa que lo suministra explicó que los costes a largo plazo son muy bajos. La Carta Magna, que es un importante documento de 1215, sólo ha costado seis libras al siglo. Además, ¡la vitela puede durar hasta 5.000 años!
