Los fruticultores europeos están preocupados por sus cosechas debido a las inesperadas heladas de primavera.
El frío ha provocado inquietud por el suministro de alimentos en Europa. Los países balcánicos han experimentado un descenso repentino de las temperaturas, que ha provocado nieve y hielo. Los fruticultores de Croacia y Polonia han sufrido pérdidas a causa de las heladas, con temperaturas que han alcanzado hasta -8 grados centígrados en algunas zonas. Sin embargo, los agricultores holandeses han encontrado una solución pulverizando agua sobre sus árboles frutales, lo que crea una capa protectora de hielo que ayuda a mantener calientes las yemas. A pesar de estos esfuerzos, las fuertes nevadas en altitudes más elevadas han causado problemas a los conductores.
