Edgars Rinkevics es el nuevo presidente de Letonia. Esto es importante porque es el primer presidente gay de la UE.
El trabajo del presidente consiste sobre todo en actos oficiales. Pero también puede decir no a las leyes y pedir a la gente que vote cosas. Rinkevics dijo abiertamente a la gente que era gay en 2014. Siempre dice que las personas LGBT deben tener los mismos derechos que cualquier otra persona. Los homosexuales no pueden casarse en Letonia. Pero pueden convivir legalmente.
Rinkevics dice que ayudará a Ucrania en su guerra contra Rusia. También dice que en Letonia no todos somos iguales. Quiere mejorar las cosas para todos.
