La gente paga precios elevados por la electricidad y transportar combustible a esta zona resulta muy costoso. Las autoridades y las empresas están probando ahora la energía solar para reducir las facturas y utilizar menos combustibles fósiles. Afirman que los largos días de verano proporcionan mucha luz solar. La zona recibe una luz solar intensa en comparación con muchos otros lugares. Muchas personas quieren una energía más limpia porque el cambio climático provoca fenómenos meteorológicos extremos y hace que algunas comunidades abandonen sus hogares. Las empresas locales ven un mayor interés en la energía solar. Los altos precios de la electricidad empujan a la gente a buscar nuevas formas de producir energía. Algunas empresas también prueban coches eléctricos para demostrar que la tecnología funciona en climas fríos.
