El Niño se origina en el océano Pacífico. Este fenómeno natural hace que el agua del océano se caliente mucho. Cambia los vientos y las lluvias en todo el mundo.
Los científicos creen que este fenómeno de El Niño será más intenso que nunca. Junto con el cambio climático, hará que el año que viene sea muy caluroso. Algunos países, como Australia y algunas zonas de África, tendrán un tiempo muy seco y caluroso. En otros lugares habrá grandes tormentas.
Las Naciones Unidas dicen que los gobiernos deben prepararse ya mismo. Tienen que ayudar a los agricultores a cultivar alimentos y crear lugares frescos para proteger a la gente del calor peligroso.
