La cumbre COP28 celebrada en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos concluyó con un importante acuerdo. El acuerdo pide a las naciones que abandonen los combustibles fósiles para hacer frente al cambio climático.
Algunas personas critican el acuerdo porque no existe un compromiso claro de dejar de utilizar combustibles fósiles, pero el acuerdo pide una transición global hacia emisiones netas cero para 2050. El presidente de la Cop28, Sultan Al Jaber, destacó su carácter histórico porque los países no siguieron el Acuerdo de París.
Muchos consideran que el acuerdo supone un alejamiento del carbón, el petróleo y el gas, pero otros sostienen que no hace lo suficiente para reducir la contaminación y ayudar a los países más afectados por el cambio climático. La próxima reunión, la COP29, se celebrará en Bakú, Azerbaiyán, el próximo mes de noviembre.
