Los operadores de parques industriales y almacenes de México necesitan mucha electricidad para sus crecientes negocios. Quieren financiar ellos mismos la construcción de paneles solares, pero el gobierno controla el sector energético.
México ya tiene problemas con la red eléctrica, y los expertos afirman que grandes empresas como Tesla, que iniciará su actividad en el norte del país, necesitarán mucha más electricidad.
Actualmente, existe un límite de energía renovable autogenerada de 500 kilovatios, pero varias organizaciones pidieron al gobierno que aumentara este límite. Mientras el mundo se aleja de los combustibles fósiles, el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador apoya el uso de combustibles fósiles, y no apoya los proyectos renovables.
