El partido de clasificación para la Eurocopa 2024 entre Bélgica y Suecia fue suspendido y posteriormente abandonado tras un atentado terrorista en Bruselas.
Bélgica elevó su alerta terrorista al máximo nivel cuando apareció en un vídeo un hombre que reivindicaba su afiliación al Estado Islámico. Los jugadores suecos, informados del atentado antes de la segunda parte, decidieron no continuar el partido por respeto a las víctimas. El marcador estaba empatado a 1-1 en el momento de la suspensión. Al parecer, las dos víctimas llevaban camisetas de Suecia. Tanto el seleccionador como el capitán suecos hicieron hincapié en la seguridad de los jugadores, y el equipo de seguridad veló por su bienestar.
Bélgica ya se había asegurado una plaza en la fase final de la Eurocopa 2024, mientras que la oportunidad de Suecia quedó eliminada por el empate de Austria con Azerbaiyán.
