En Argentina, los economistas sugieren adoptar el dólar para controlar la alta inflación.
Javier Milei es economista y candidato presidencial, y cree que utilizar el dólar puede ayudar formalmente a evitar que los precios suban demasiado. El peso argentino tuvo problemas en el pasado, como el cambio a una moneda diferente llamada Austral en la década de 1980 y el intento de igualarse al dólar, pero fracasó.
El gobierno busca la ayuda de China y del Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) para evitar una crisis monetaria antes de las elecciones. Pero el FMI tiene que tomar una decisión difícil sobre cómo apoyar a Argentina, porque el país no cumplió sus promesas anteriores.
