En el norte de California, una mujer se enfrentó a una peligrosa situación durante 15 horas después de que su camioneta volcara en un río durante unas fuertes lluvias.
Un equipo de helicópteros de las Operaciones Aéreas de la Patrulla de Carreteras de California inició un arriesgado rescate. Levantaron a la mujer de las caudalosas aguas utilizando un arnés. La mujer quería cruzar el arroyo Del Valle, a unos 56 km al este de San Francisco, pero se quedó atascada. Pasó la noche encima de su coche, lo que probablemente le salvó la vida. Sobrevivió con heridas leves.
En 2012 se produjo un incidente similar en el mismo arroyo.
