La tienda empezó a funcionar hace más de 50 años. Esta enorme tienda de 4.600 metros cuadrados vende artículos no reclamados por las compañías aéreas durante al menos nueve días. No es una tienda habitual de objetos perdidos, la gente viene aquí a comprar cosas que nadie quiere. Doyle Owens fundó la tienda en 1970, cuando vendía equipajes no reclamados que compraba en Washington DC.
Aunque el 99,5% de las maletas suelen encontrar a sus dueños. Owens vende o recicla el resto, o incluso lo pone en un museo de la tienda.
