Se incendia un barco – nivel 3

Tres turistas británicos han desaparecido tras incendiarse la embarcación de submarinismo en la que viajaban frente a la costa egipcia del Mar Rojo.

El incidente ocurrió cerca de Marsa Alam, cerca de Elphinstone, un conocido lugar de buceo con reputación de encuentros con tiburones. La embarcación, llamada Hurricane, sufrió un incendio devastador, que se cree que fue causado por un cortocircuito eléctrico. Doce ciudadanos británicos y 12 tripulantes egipcios fueron rescatados y puestos a salvo. Se sigue buscando a los turistas desaparecidos. Las investigaciones preliminares sugieren que el incendio se inició en la sala de máquinas de la embarcación.

Los centros turísticos egipcios del Mar Rojo son populares entre los turistas europeos y son conocidos por sus lugares de buceo. Egipto ha estado trabajando para reactivar su industria turística, que se ha resentido debido a diversos factores, como la inestabilidad política y el impacto de la pandemia de COVID-19.
