La NASA tiene previsto enviar pronto astronautas a Marte, pero antes estudiará los efectos del aislamiento en la tripulación.
Los cuatro miembros de la tripulación pasarán un año viviendo en un hábitat simulado impreso en 3D, y los expertos comprobarán el impacto en su salud y habilidades. La tripulación sólo dispondrá de una cantidad limitada de agua, y tendrá que cultivar sus propias verduras dentro del hábitat. El experimento también comprobará la salud mental y las habilidades sociales de la tripulación al vivir juntos durante mucho tiempo.
La NASA tiene previsto anunciar los miembros de la tripulación este verano. Los expertos esperan que la misión tenga lugar en la década de 2030.
