En Nueva York, un hombre llamado Michael Cavaliere ayuda a las palomas heridas. A mucha gente no le gustan las palomas, pero Michael cree que son especiales.

A menudo, a estas aves se les enreda pelo humano o hilo alrededor de las patas. Esto es muy peligroso porque puede cortarles la piel o hacer que pierdan los dedos. Michael atrapa a las aves y corta el hilo. Si la herida es leve, el pájaro puede volar inmediatamente. Si la herida es grave, lleva al pájaro al veterinario. Michael dice que la vida en la ciudad es muy dura para las aves debido a los coches y la contaminación. Quiere ayudarlas porque son pequeñas y no pueden valerse por sí mismas.
