Meta es la empresa que está detrás de Instagram, Facebook y WhatsApp. Un jurado de Nuevo México ha dictaminado que Meta infringió la ley y debe pagar 375 millones de dólares.
La empresa decía que sus aplicaciones eran seguras para los niños, pero el jurado ha determinado que eso no era cierto. Creen que Meta no hizo lo suficiente para evitar que gente malintencionada hiciera daño a los niños en Internet. Algunos funcionarios dicen que esto es una gran victoria para las familias. Creen que a Meta le importan más los beneficios que la seguridad de los niños.
A Meta no le gusta la decisión del juez y dice que volverá a defenderse ante los tribunales. Muchos otros estados también están enfadados con Meta. Dicen que las redes sociales son como una droga que hace que los jóvenes se sientan tristes o mal. En mayo, un juez decidirá si Meta debe cambiar el funcionamiento de sus aplicaciones.
