El robot ayuda a obtener información sobre el gas del volcán. Este trabajo ayuda a los expertos a comprender los cambios del volcán y mantiene a las personas a salvo, ya que no es necesario que caminen por terrenos peligrosos con gases tóxicos. El robot cuenta con cámaras y sensores que le ayudan a ver el terreno y medir el gas. Se mueve sobre rocas, arena y zonas escarpadas. La inteligencia artificial ayuda al robot a elegir cómo mover las patas y mantenerse estable. Esto facilita el desplazamiento por terrenos accidentados.

Las pruebas demuestran que el robot realiza la mayoría de las tareas por sí solo y encuentra muchas fuentes de gas. Los investigadores quieren que el robot se desplace más lejos en el futuro y trabaje con menos ayuda. Esta tecnología puede mejorar la investigación sobre volcanes y proteger vidas humanas.
