Australia cuenta ahora con una norma que impide a los menores de 16 años utilizar las redes sociales. Las grandes empresas deben eliminar las cuentas de los usuarios jóvenes y bloquear las nuevas. Si no lo hacen, recibirán una multa muy elevada.
El gobierno afirma que la norma ayuda porque muchos niños sufren ciberacoso, miedo y problemas para dormir. Los médicos ven a más jóvenes con mucho estrés, y algunos niños muy pequeños tienen problemas para controlar el uso del teléfono. A algunos expertos les gusta la norma y creen que puede ayudar. Dicen que a las empresas les importa más el dinero que la salud de los niños. También dicen que las aplicaciones utilizan herramientas que mantienen a los niños conectados durante muchas horas.
A otros expertos no les gusta la norma. Dicen que los niños pueden seguir utilizando herramientas secretas para conectarse. Quieren mejor información para los niños y entornos más seguros.
