Los canales de noticias indios solían ser fiables y respetados, pero hoy mucha gente los ve como herramientas políticas.
En Nepal y Bangladesh, la gente acusa a los reporteros indios de mostrar sólo el punto de vista del gobierno indio. Los críticos dicen que las noticias se centran en el drama, la religión y la política, no en la verdad. Esto hace que a muchas personas de los países vecinos no les gusten los medios de comunicación indios.
Dentro de India, los periodistas tienen muchos problemas. Algunos pierden su trabajo o se enfrentan a la policía porque critican a los dirigentes. Muchas cadenas de televisión pertenecen a empresarios que apoyan al gobierno, por lo que los periodistas no pueden trabajar libremente. Por eso, las noticias indias parecen más espectáculos ruidosos que información real.
