Ha comenzado en Gaza un alto el fuego entre Israel y Hamás, que permite a muchos palestinos regresar a sus hogares destruidos tras meses de enfrentamientos.
Unas 200.000 personas están regresando a pie a través de ciudades en ruinas, mientras las fuerzas israelíes siguen controlando la mitad del territorio.
Según el acuerdo, Hamás debe liberar a 20 rehenes israelíes y los cadáveres de otros 28, mientras que Israel liberará a 250 presos palestinos y a más de 1.700 detenidos de Gaza. Ambas partes disponen de 72 horas para completar estos pasos. Este alto el fuego es sólo la primera etapa de un plan más amplio que incluye reconstruir Gaza y decidir quién la gobernará. Muchos detalles siguen sin estar claros, y el futuro de la región depende de cómo las partes cumplan los términos.
Las familias israelíes de los antiguos rehenes expresaron su alivio y esperanza en la paz, aunque los observadores internacionales advierten de que aún quedan grandes retos antes de que pueda lograrse una estabilidad duradera.
