Disney ha dicho que Jimmy Kimmel Live volverá tras una semana fuera de antena.
El programa se detuvo porque Kimmel hizo comentarios sobre la muerte de Charlie Kirk, y las autoridades advirtieron a ABC sobre su licencia. Disney quiso calmar la situación deteniendo el programa.
La decisión de detener el programa creó fuertes reacciones políticas. Muchos republicanos, incluido Trump, se alegraron, diciendo que las palabras de Kimmel eran malas y sus índices de audiencia bajos. Los demócratas y los grupos defensores de la libertad de expresión dijeron que era un error detener el programa porque limitaba el derecho a hablar libremente. Algunos políticos, incluso republicanos, apoyaron el derecho de Kimmel a hablar, aunque no les gustara lo que dijera.
Tras algunas conversaciones con Kimmel, Disney permitió que volviera el programa, aunque también dijo que sus comentarios no eran delicados.
