El lacrosse es un deporte muy antiguo de Norteamérica. Hoy en día, es el deporte de equipo de más rápido crecimiento en el mundo. Volverá a los Juegos Olímpicos en 2028.
Ahora mucha más gente juega al lacrosse. Es popular en más de 90 países. En EEUU, la Premier Lacrosse League, PLL, comienza en 2018. Funciona con una TV deportiva y también tiene una liga femenina.
Pero la mayoría de la gente sigue viendo el lacrosse como un deporte para ricos. El equipamiento cuesta mucho dinero, y muchos jugadores proceden de colegios ricos.
La mayoría de los aficionados también tienen mucho dinero. Hay 48 millones de aficionados, pero no muchos ven los partidos por televisión. Los expertos dicen que este deporte necesita más jugadores y aficionados de familias normales para hacerse muy popular.
