Una iglesia se mueve – nivel 2

En el norte de Suecia, la ciudad de Kiruna traslada una famosa iglesia llamada Kiruna Kyrka. La iglesia es muy antigua, y parece una cabaña sami. La construyeron en 1912, y pesa 672 toneladas.

La iglesia viajará 5 km hasta un nuevo hogar. El motivo es que el terreno bajo la ciudad no es seguro, porque una mina de hierro muy grande está debilitando el suelo. El traslado de la iglesia forma parte de un gran plan para trasladar la mayor parte de la ciudad. Mucha gente está interesada en este acontecimiento. El rey sueco y miles de personas más verán cómo la iglesia se desplaza lentamente, medio kilómetro cada hora. La gente de todo el país también podrá ver el traslado por televisión.

El proyecto cuesta más de 44 millones de euros. Algunos sami no están contentos. Dicen que la mina y el traslado del pueblo dañan su cultura y dificultan la cría de renos.
