Israel ha iniciado pausas tácticas diarias de 10 horas para permitir el paso de la ayuda humanitaria; sin embargo, la ONU y el Programa Mundial de Alimentos afirman que estas pausas no son suficientes. La población teme recoger los suministros lanzados desde el aire porque la caída de cajas ha herido o matado a civiles. Las familias desplazadas viven en tiendas de campaña sin alimentos ni agua potable. Algunos dicen que no hay un verdadero alto el fuego, ya que continúan los bombardeos.
Israel accedió a permitir una ayuda limitada tras la indignación mundial por las imágenes de niños hambrientos. Israel afirma que Hamás roba la ayuda para apoyar sus operaciones, pero Hamás lo niega. La ONU afirma que tiene alimentos suficientes para tres meses, pero muchas personas llevan días sin comer y se enfrentan a condiciones similares a la hambruna. La situación sigue siendo crítica, y el hambre se agrava en toda la población.
