También ayudó al equipo a ganar la FA Cup y la Copa de la Liga. Fue 49 veces internacional con Portugal. Su muerte conmocionó a mucha gente, tanto en Portugal como en el extranjero, porque aún era joven y estaba lleno de potencial.
