La Luna y el Sol hacen que el océano suba y baje. Esto se llama mareas. La Luna tira del agua de la Tierra y hace que suba en dos lugares. Cuando la Tierra gira, estos lugares se mueven. Cada día tenemos dos mareas altas y dos mareas bajas.
El Sol también ayuda a que haya mareas. Cuando la Luna y el Sol están alineados, el agua sube más. Cuando no están alineados, el agua no se mueve tanto. En algunos lugares las mareas son grandes y en otros pequeñas.
En otros planetas y lunas, las mareas pueden ser muy fuertes. En una luna incluso hay volcanes calientes debido a las mareas.
