Grace Davidson es la primera mujer del Reino Unido que da a luz tras un trasplante de útero. Nació con una rara enfermedad en la que el útero falta o no se desarrolla completamente, por lo que no podía tener hijos.
En febrero de 2023, los médicos le practicaron una operación de trasplante de útero que cambió su vida. Su hermana Amy, que ya tenía dos hijos, donó su útero para el trasplante. Grace dio a luz más tarde a una niña y le puso el nombre de Amy en honor al don de su hermana.
Este acto de bondad conmovió profundamente a Grace, que se sentía destrozada antes de la operación. Dijo que su calidad de vida había sido mala debido a la tristeza que sentía por no poder tener hijos. Pero esa tristeza desapareció cuando nació su bebé. Ahora siente alegría y plenitud.
El padre del bebé dijo que fue una decisión fácil apoyar el trasplante. Se siente agradecido cada día y dice que nunca olvidarán el papel que desempeñó Amy para hacer posible su familia.
