La violencia política está aumentando en la Unión Europea debido al extremismo y a la decepción con el gobierno.
El reciente asesinato a tiros del primer ministro eslovaco, Robert Fico, pone de manifiesto este aumento. Ha sido el primer atentado contra un jefe de Estado europeo desde 2003. Los analistas del Centro de Política Europea afirman que el clima político y las próximas elecciones tienen parte de culpa. Los grupos políticos extremistas son cada vez más fuertes, lo que provoca más violencia verbal y física y una sociedad polarizada. En Alemania, las agresiones a políticos casi se han duplicado en los últimos cinco años, con 2.790 incidentes en 2023. En Francia también aumentaron un 32% las agresiones a políticos en 2022.
Los expertos afirman que la gente no confía en las autoridades y se siente vulnerable. Advierten de que este ambiente puede disuadir a la gente de implicarse en política.
