Países latinoamericanos, entre ellos Brasil, apoyaron a México tras el ataque a su embajada en Ecuador.
El ataque tenía como objetivo detener a Jorge Glas, ex vicepresidente de Ecuador, que se refugió en México. México interrumpió las relaciones con Ecuador y calificó la detención de equivocada y contraria a las normas internacionales. Aunque Ecuador argumentó, que las embajadas son lugares protegidos.
Muchos gobiernos latinoamericanos criticaron la detención. Brasil dijo que infringía las normas diplomáticas. México pedirá ayuda a grupos internacionales. Funcionarios estadounidenses pidieron conversaciones para resolver el problema y seguir las normas internacionales.
