La Cruz Roja Americana ha declarado oficialmente una emergencia nacional. Los hospitales estadounidenses necesitan desesperadamente más sangre.
En los últimos veinte años, se ha producido un descenso del 40% en el número de personas que donan sangre. Esto podría suponer retrasos en las intervenciones quirúrgicas e incluso riesgos para la vida. La situación es aún más grave en invierno, cuando muchas personas tienen problemas respiratorios. La Cruz Roja motiva a la gente para que done sangre ofreciendo la posibilidad de ganar entradas para la Super Bowl.
