El volcán de Islandia entra en erupción – nivel 2

Un volcán entró en erupción en el suroeste de Islandia y liberó lava y humo. La erupción se produjo tras semanas de intensa actividad sísmica.
La península de Reykjanes se enfrentaba a la amenaza de una gran erupción, y las autoridades evacuaron a casi 4.000 personas de Grindavik, situada a 40 km al suroeste de Reykjavik. El balneario de la Laguna Azul también cerró el mes pasado. La erupción provocó grietas en el suelo y se extendió hacia el pueblo. El aeropuerto internacional de Keflavik sigue abierto, pero hay retrasos. Las autoridades advirtieron de un posible movimiento hacia Grindavik al aparecer una grieta de 3,5 km.
El volcán libera entre 100 y 200 metros cúbicos de lava por segundo. Las autoridades advierten a la población que se mantenga alejada.
