La Destilería de Shizuoka es uno de los principales fabricantes independientes de whisky de Japón. Utilizan cedro de los bosques cercanos para satisfacer la creciente demanda mundial de whisky.
Este año se cumplen 100 años de fabricación de whisky en Japón. Hay más de 100 destilerías autorizadas, el doble que hace diez años. El fuego especial del cedro distingue a Shizuoka. La industria del whisky en Japón se disparó después de 2008, y se hizo popular en todo el mundo. Los mayores fabricantes de whisky, como Suntory y Nikka, se expandieron para satisfacer la demanda. Nuevas empresas, incluidos inversores extranjeros, están entrando en el mercado.
A algunas personas les preocupa que la calidad pueda bajar a medida que se incorporen más actores y que ello perjudique la reputación del whisky japonés.
