La Iglesia Católica española pidió perdón a las víctimas de abusos sexuales cometidos por sacerdotes.
Una encuesta reciente sugería que había muchos más abusos en todo el país de lo que se pensaba. La Iglesia dijo que tenía dudas al respecto. La encuesta reveló que el 0,6% de algo más de 8.000 encuestados declararon haber sido víctimas de abusos. Esta cifra se elevaba al 1,1% cuando incluía a profesores de escuelas católicas y otras personas. Algunos dijeron que la Conferencia Episcopal Española no cooperó plenamente con la investigación, pero dijeron que lo sentían mucho.
A lo largo de los años, hubo muchos escándalos en muchos países. En España, donde casi el 60% de la población es católica, es un gran problema.
