En 2021, una joven acudió a un hospital del este de Polonia para abortar porque su bebé tenía un grave problema de salud. Los médicos no le practicaron el aborto porque temían infringir la ley.
La historia de esta mujer es un ejemplo de los cambios en los derechos de la mujer en Polonia durante los ocho años transcurridos desde que el partido nacionalista Ley y Justicia (PiS) comenzó a dirigir el país. La mujer consiguió abortar en otro lugar más tarde, con ayuda de activistas. Su situación es muy importante porque conecta con mucha gente antes de las elecciones del domingo. Los derechos de la mujer son el tema más importante de estas elecciones.
Hay muchas mujeres votantes que aún no saben a quién votar. La oposición cree que si consigue que esas mujeres voten por ellos, podría cambiar el resultado de las elecciones.
